How to Transfer Viber Chat History from Your Old Android to New iPhone

When you get a new phone, it can be really exciting: new technologies, new abilities, new compatibilities, new apps and new ways of doing things! Getting a new phone is like having a completely new toy to explore and discover, and yet with all of the same familiarity that makes it easy to use your new phone during your daily life.

 

However, there are plenty of disadvantages when it comes to treating yourself to a new phone, and that is mainly because there are so many things in our phones that we completely depend on – and they are often very difficult to transfer from one phone to another. When you are moving from one type of operating system (like Android) to a different kind of operating system (like Apple iOS), then that process becomes even more complicated, because they do not even talk to each other! Viber messages are often the worst, because people depend on them for contacting their friends and family, and they don’t want to lose all of those funny jokes and intimate messages – and yet you can’t just transfer them over.

 

 

That doesn’t mean that it is impossible to transfer your old Viber chat history from Android to your iPhone, of course: you just need to know how to do it, which is why we have put together this little guide to make your life that much easier. It just takes one computer program and four simple steps, and before you know it, your Viber messages will be moved from your old Android phone to your new iPhone. All you have to do is to download a third-party utility and follow these simple instructions.

 

Update (July 29, 2022): We've recently updated this tutorial so these instructions will now work if you are running Android 11 or up (including latest Android 12) on your Android device and iOS 5 or later like the current iOS 15 on your iPhone. If you have an old Android device with Android 9 or earlier versions, then you need to follow these instructions.

 

 

 

Step 1a: Enable USB Debugging mode on Android

First of all, you will need to turn on a mode called USB Debugging on your Android. To do this, go to Settings > Developer options and toggle the USB debugging option. If Developer options are not visible in the "Settings" menu, then navigate to Settings > About Phone > Software information and tap on Build Number (7) times untill you see a short pop-up saying "You are now a developer" or "Developer mode has been enabled".

 

 

 

 

Step 1b: Backup your Viber messages to Google Drive

Next, you should backup your Viber chats and media to Google Drive. This can be done by going to More > Account > Viber backup > Back up. You might first need to sign in to your Google account before you backup your chats to Google Drive.

 

 

Step 2: Connect Android device to your computer and open the software

After backing-up your Viber chats to Google Drive, connect your Android phone to your computer with a USB cable and run the Android Viber to iPhone Transfer app.

 

 

Step 3: Let the software insall "VB Sync" app on your Android

Follow the on-screen prompts on your Android and allow the software to install an app called "VB Sync" on your Android device. If you miss the on-screen prompts and get some error, then disconnect and reconnect the Android device to your computer.

 

 

Next, software will ask you to downgrade Viber app on your Android, you just need to click the "Yes" button.

 

 

Step 4: Backup your Viber chats and media

Next, you'll tap the "Back up my data" button on your Android and then click the "OK" button on the software interface to let the software backup the Viber data that is on your Android device. No password is required. But if it asks you to do so, then enter any password of your choice like "0456789" and tap back up my data button.

 

Note: You have to follow this step even if you don't have any chats or media files on your Android.

 

 

Step 5: Wait till your Android device gets visible on the apps's interface

After pressing the "OK" button you need to wait few minutes till the app start showing your Android device on its "Devices" section.

 

 

Step 6: Transfer Viber messages from your Android to your computer

Now, you need to right-click on your Android device that is displaying on the program interface and select "Backup Messages" option or go to "File" menu and select "Backup Messages" option. Your Viber chats will be exported from your Android to a local database.

 

 

Step 7a: Download Viber on iPhone and verify your phone number

Now, go straight to the App Store and download the Viber app on your iPhone and verify your phone number if you haven't done so already. It is advisable to use the same number on the iPhone that was previously used on the Android device to create the Viber account. Next, open any Viber contact on your iPhone and send any messages such as "Hello" to that Viber contact.

 

 

 

Step 7b: Make sure you do have iTunes on your computer

Please make sure that iTunes software has been installed on your computer. If you don't have it on your Windows PC, then you can download it from this page: https://www.apple.com/itunes/

 

Step 8: Connect iPhone to your computer via lightning cable

We are now all set to re-launch the program and connect iPhone to our computer via USB cable. After connecting the program, please follow the on-screen instructions and the software will detect your iPhone and display it on its UI.

 

 

Optional (when program doesn't detect your iPhone): If the software is having trouble recognising your iPhone, then you need to backup your iPhone with the iTunes software. To do this, connect your iPhone to your computer via USB cable and launch the iTunes. In iTunes, you need to click on the small iPhone icon displaying in the upper left corner to go to the "Summary" tab. In the "Backups" section, select "This Computer" and the backup will start automatically.

 

 

Step 9: Transfer Viber messages from database to your iPhone

Lastly, you need to right-click on the database you have created in step 6 and select "Transfer Viber Messages from Database to iPhone" option or select the database and click "Transfer Messages from Database to iPhone" button. Your Viber messages will then start to transfer from your old Android phone to your new iPhone.

 

 

Setup your iPhone after your iPhone gets restarted and login to your Viber account by verifying your phone number. You're now good to go.

 

 

How to Transfer Viber Message from Android to iPhone Without Third-Party App

Things get really tricky if you don't want to use any third-party app such as mentioned above to copy Viber chats from Android to iPhone because Viber no longer allows you to even email your chat history. You only left with an option to download Viber on your computer and save your important conversations in a text format.

 

Step 1: Download & install the "Viber for desktop" app on your computer.

 

Step 2: Launch the Viber app on your computer and scan the QR code using your Android device. To scan the QR code, open the Viber on your Android phone, click on "More" and scan the QR code using the QR code reader displaying in the upper right corner.

 

 

Step 3: Click on "Sync" button to sync Viber chat history between your Android and computer.

 

Step 4: Open the conversation that you'd like to save on your computer. Right click on any message and choose "Select" option to select the multiple messages. After selecting all the messages, click the copy button.

 

 

Step 5: Finally, open the "Notepad" on your Windows PC or "Notes" app on Mac and paste all the messages that you've copied in step 4. You can also email this file as attachment and download it on your iPhone.
